I Didn’t Need Fixing. I Needed to See Myself.
I saw a post recently about getting locked in on your body, your money, your work, your peace. Your whole damn life. I loved how big it was. It made me think about how fast I want my life to feel different can turn into a list of things we think we need to fix.
I know that list. The body goal. The money goal. The work goal. The version of me who has it all handled. It can start to feel like every part of your life needs improvement before you’re allowed to feel good in it.
I learned that I didn’t need fixing. I just needed to see myself.
Not only the woman sitting here today, but all the versions of me who got me here. The ones who figured something out, kept going, tried again, made a hard call, learned a new way. When I started looking at my wins, I realized they weren’t random. They showed me what I know how to do and what I can count on in myself.
That matters when you’re thinking about what comes next. Maybe you’ve found your voice in one part of your life and want to bring it into another. Maybe you figured something out in a hard season that could help you with something you’re building now. Sometimes the skill you’re looking for is already there. You’ve just been using it somewhere else.
That’s why I created Wision. It brings together the Wheel of Life and a vision board. You look at different parts of your life, remember what you’ve already done, and make a picture of what you want more of.
Sure, there might be magazines, poster board, glue sticks, and a few quotes. I love that part. But I’m also thinking about the woman sitting there, and all the versions of her who came with her. What she’s made it through. What she knows how to do. What she might be ready to want now.
You don’t need to come with a plan or know exactly what you want to change. I didn’t. I needed a chance to look at my life and see myself in it more clearly.
This November, I’m hosting two in-person Wision gatherings at Ecco. We’ll take the time to work through it together. I’m also planning ways to come back to Wision quarterly next year, because our lives keep moving. What you want now might be different from what you wanted in January, and I like the idea of having a place to check in with yourself along the way.
You don’t have to arrive ready to fix yourself. Come as you are, with all the versions of you who got you here. I have a feeling they know something about what comes next.
